Job description

Job Purpose
Responsible for leading a regional trade compliance team that partners closely with the Global Trade Compliance organization to develop, implement, and monitor sustainable and scalable compliance processes. Facilitate trade through operational excellence with regional customs brokers, ensuring that they are able to meet establish KPIs. Create value by being an advisor and educator to the organization on trade topics to internal stakeholders on duty savings opportunities. Act as a steward by mitigating risk thorough the development and monitoring of processes, procedures and customs entries across the Greater China and South East Asia, ANZ Clusters.
Value Creation
- Effective relationship builder with the cluster and country leadership, providing periodic updates on compliance health.
- Project leader to support implementation of a new ERP (SAP S4Fashion), Global Trade Management solutions and regional distribution models.
- Knowledgeable expert on Free Trade Agreements throughout the region. Monitors new and existing trade preference programs and provides counseling and recommendations to relevant business functions. Maintains awareness of emerging trade issues and their impact to LS&Co sourcing strategies. Conducts research and gathers information and audits compliance to free trade agreements.Customs Operations
- Lead regional team to ensure operations, audit and procedures are maintained at high levels of quality.
- Lead regional brokerage business reviews to ensure entry accuracy and quality.
- Process driven expert to develop and implement procedures related to trade and customs compliance with the local country management.
- Responsible for serving as the primary point of contact and providing consultation/ interpretation of East Asia and South East Asia Custom processes to the Global Trade Compliance team, internal stakeholders, contractors, brokers, vendors and affiliates on various compliance matters, including: trade program eligibility; valuation; markings; classification; recordkeeping; documentation requirements; supply chain security and other related topics. Assures all instructions and consultations are documented in formal procedural documents.Risk Mitigation
- Supports internal and external audits by coordinating with auditors and Global Trade Compliance, collection and review of documentation and other tasks as needed.
- Manage post entry transactional audit. Continually improve processes to ensure a high level of compliance.
- Support internal risk assessment activity.
- Shared responsibility for training and education for internal LS&Co functions, brokers, forwarders, contractors, manufacturing vendors, and affiliates. Assists with the development and maintenance of documentation requirements and departmental handout materials. Assists in the planning and conducting of in-house Customs awareness training programs. Assists with the onboarding of new contractors.
- Able to identify risk to compliance operations based on market conditions, business needs, or other impacts and report them to the Global Trade Compliance team as necessary.

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with at least 7 years in customs, trade compliance, or another similar position with 2-3 years of people management experience.
- Deep understanding of international logistics, customs, and trade.
- Familiar with general customs processes, audit, and compliance requirements.
- Good understanding of import/export documentation requirements of different countries across Asia.
- Expert understanding of customs valuation topics, VAT, transfer pricing, royalties, buying commissions and other similar topics.
- Experience working with customs officials across Asia.
- Well versed in MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
- Power BI and Tableau experience. A good understanding of the power of data.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Experience with Global Trade Management solutions and SAP preferred.
- Familiarity with export control and due diligence a plus.
- Effective interpersonal skills; ability to work with culturally and geographically diverse teams.
- Ability to operate in a global matrix organization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate with various levels of the organization from transactional operators to executive leadership.
